Nick Haake left the Team to retire at the end of May. Nick has enjoyed his time with Shared Lives and we would like to congratulate him on his retirement. We wish you all the best in your next adventure!

In the mean time Paul Marchant, assistant manager, will be acting up as Team Manager and looks forward to meeting you all at some point.

We have some exciting events plans and we would love for you all to join us….

We are very excited to celebrate Shared Lives week (24th-28th June 2024)!

Please all join us at Barry Island on Saturday, 29th June 2024 10am-4pm at the Beach Hut Number 8.

We would love to catch up and discuss how Shared Lives is working for you and learn how we could make it better.

Monthly Social Event created for Carers by Carers

On 29^th May Shared Lives Carers Veronica and Peter hosted their monthly Shared Lives get together at their local pub the Three Horse Shoes in Bridgend. It was a great turn out and everyone enjoyed themselves especially Veronica`s, home made CAKE! Individuals enjoyed taking time in the bar to ‘have their say ‘ about Shared Lives with project workers, and we were thrilled with all their lovely comments! All are looking forward to meeting again next month same place and time 6pm -8pm on 26^th June 2024.

Carers Committee Get Together !!

We also would like to invite you to our Carer`s Committee Meeting which will be held in Sully Inn on 11th July 2024. We will inform you about the time.

All Shared Lives Carers are invited to come to along to a get together and meet other Shared Lives Carers in your local community.

We have booked the Sully Inn from 7till 9 ( in the upstairs room)

What’s Occurring?

• Nick and CeriAnne recently attended an accommodation information day @ Spectrum Fairwater in Cardiff which was a great success. Nick and Cerianne provided information to parents, carers and the public about Shared Lives and the benefits it can make to others lives. Our fantastic new video was also showcased, and we would like to thank our Carers (Joanne and Paul Halford) for attending the events and sharing their experiences of being Shared Lives Carers.

• Some of the SL team attended an Unpaid Carers Event at Barry MEMO on 10^th April 2024. There was a wide range of partner agencies present and the SL team gave a presentation regarding how we can support individuals that are cared who live at home as well as sharing information with other agencies who may be part of referring individuals to us. This was the first time Shared Lives have been part of this event but given the positive feedback we received we will hope to be invited again in the future.

Good news….

We would like to congratulate David Sweeting who has recently taken up a photography class and has unlocked a talent. David attends the Vale of Glamorgan Camera Club and one of his snaps of Barry Island was recently published in the Barry District and the Penarth Times.
